Detects restricted diffusion (ischaemic stroke, abscess, malignancy)
Clinical Context
DWI uses diffusion-sensitising gradients. Restricted diffusion (cytotoxic oedema) appears bright on DWI and dark on ADC. Confirms acute ischaemia.
