Diagnosed on computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging (Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System criteria); alpha-fetoprotein elevation often present
Clinical Context
Hepatocellular carcinoma in cirrhotic liver. Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System 5: arterial enhancement plus washout equals hepatocellular carcinoma (biopsy unnecessary). Surveillance for high-risk patients (cirrhosis, B hepatitis).
