Non-invasive MRI technique visualising biliary and pancreatic ducts using heavy T2 weighting
Expansion
MR Cholangiopancreatography
Purpose
Evaluates biliary obstruction, ductal dilatation, and pancreatic pathology without contrast or endoscopy
Clinical Context
MRCP uses 90 to 180 degree refocused T2 sequences showing fluid signal (ducts, cysts). Excellent for cholangitis, pancreatitis, and acute obstructive pathology.
