Accounts for viable tumour (enhancing) versus necrosis, particularly relevant for hepatocellular carcinoma treatment response
Clinical Context
mRECIST measures longest diameter of arterial-phase enhancement only (excludes necrosis). Useful for hepatocellular carcinoma post-transarterial chemoembolisation and immunotherapy where necrosis is therapeutic goal.
