Purpose
Superior soft tissue contrast; no ionising radiation; excellent for neuro, MSK, and cardiac imaging
Clinical Context
MRI uses strong magnetic field (1.5 to 3 tesla clinical, 7 tesla research) and RF pulses. Superior contrast resolution but longer acquisition time than CT.
