Palmar ADduct, Dorsal ABduct

Mnemonic

PAD and DAB, for the interossei of the hand:

  • PAD - Palmar ADduct
  • DAB - Dorsal ABduct

There are three palmar and four dorsal interossei, and all are supplied by the ulnar nerve. Abduction and adduction are defined relative to the middle finger, which is why the middle finger has no palmar interosseous of its own.
