Small Saphenous Vein Course
A memory aid for the course of the small saphenous vein.
Expansion
Runs behind the lateral malleolus up the back of the calf to the popliteal vein
Expansion
- Begins on the lateral (little toe) side of the dorsal venous arch
- Passes behind the lateral malleolus
- Runs up the back of the calf with the sural nerve
- Drains into the popliteal vein in the popliteal fossa
It is the shorter of the two main superficial veins of the leg.
